$1.4 billion investment in UK From Nissan Motor for EV
Nissan Motor plans to invest $1.4 billion in the UK for the production of two new electric vehicles (EVs).
The showcased EV concepts at the Japan Auto Show include the Nissan Hyper Urban Concept and the Nissan Hyper Punk Concept, both potential candidates for upcoming EV models.
The Nissan Chill-Out Concept, unveiled in 2021, is expected to be the carmaker's first EV concept in production at its Sunderland factory.
In India, Nissan Motor introduced ICE and hybrid versions of the Qashqai and Juke, with the Juke aiming to rival models like Creta and Seltos.
The Qashqai, spotted on Indian roads during test runs, is undergoing road feasibility testing, signaling potential expansion into the Indian market.
Sky News reported Nissan's plans to develop EV versions of the Qashqai and Juke at its Sunderland factory, with additional investments.
Currently, Nissan's Sunderland factory produces only the Nissan Leaf, but the company aims to manufacture 19 new EV models and go all-electric in Europe by 2030.
The ambitious goal to rival Tesla is part of Nissan's strategy for the European market.
